Pain at the pump in your town?

Pain at the pump in your town?

East Texans are complaining about the increasing cost of fuel, and with good reason.

In an effort to help our neighbors find the best gas prices, we at KLTV are collecting viewer-submitted photos of local gas station signs each day to tip off area drivers about the best (or worst, as the case may be) places to buy fuel.  We all want to find fuel at the lowest possible price, and this may help us all do so.

We will put these photos in our KLTV slideshow entitled "Pain at the Pump Price Check." Each photo should be submitted with name of town and nearest cross-streets so that those viewing the slideshow know where to find the station.

If you'd like to submit a gas prices picture from your community, just snap it with your phone and send it in an email to sendit@kltv.com

Check out the sideshow from February 21, 2012.

Road closure in Tyler beginning today

Road closure in Tyler beginning today

Released by the City of Tyler:

Starting Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, Claude Street will be closed permanently at the railroad crossing at Palace Avenue.

Vehicles will no longer be permitted to exit eastbound on to Palace Avenue from Claude Street and cars from Palace Avenue will no longer be permitted to turn left or right onto Claude Street.

Claude Street will continue to be accessible from North Ross Avenue and Grand Avenue (please see attached photo).

Closing Claude Street will enable Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) to install gates at the Palace Avenue railroad crossing. The work to install gates on Palace Avenue has already begun and is the next step toward the City’s application for a quiet zone.

Drivers are urged to seek permanent alternate routes.

Water on the road? Turn around, don't drown!

Water on the road? Turn around, don't drown!

With storms predicted across East Texas tonight, chances are good that many will come across water-covered roadways in the morning. We have some safety tips for you from the Texas Department of Public Safety to prevent loss of life and damage to your property:

Many flood-related injuries and deaths could be avoided if drivers would turn around and choose a different route when they see water across a road. When there’s water running across a road, drivers should always turn around and choose a different route. These are the facts:

  • Six inches of water can cause tires to lose traction and begin to slide.

  • Twelve inches of water can float many cars.

Pothole Patrol: keeping ETX drivers informed

Pothole Patrol: keeping ETX drivers informed

If you have ever been frustrated by a huge pothole on a street that caused a big bang, possibly even damaging your car as you drove over it, we think you'll appreciate this list.

This list will be updated as more viewers and readers submit locations, and even pictures, if available, of potholes anywhere in ETX, in an effort to keep everyone informed about places to avoid until they are fixed.
