Gallery Main Street will launch its second art exhibit of 2012 on Thursday, Feb. 9 with an opening reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the gallery, 110 W. Erwin, in downtown Tyler.

“Simply Black and White” is the theme of the show, which includes photography, works in pencil, acrylic, ink and more, said City of Tyler Main Street Department Leader Beverly Abell.

“The variety of subjects and techniques in this show speaks to the talent and imagination of the artists in our area,” Abell said.

On January 5, Gallery Main Street will welcome its first exhibit of the 2012 year, The Fine Art of the Found Object.

A free reception will be held from 4:30 - 6:30pm.  Come view the art while enjoying live music and refreshments. 

Many unique interpretations of the theme will be showcased, from the beautiful to the bizarre.

 The smartphone has generated a new artistic expression in the form of cell phone photography, and Gallery Main Street in Downtown Tyler is celebrating the evolution of cell photos with its new exhibit, “Photography: A Cellular View.”

More than 100 photographs of everything from landscapes to architecture are on display at the gallery through Jan. 3.

“This display is very unusual for us, but people are enjoying it just the same,” said City of Tyler Main Street Department Leader Beverly Abell. “We try to recognize emerging art forms as well traditional forms.

“We have found that this exhibit has engaged people of all ages and all skill sets,” Abell said.

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - FLY KiDS is hosting a thirty-minute Concert Fundraiser on Wednesday, February 16th at the Glass Recreation Center beginning at 5:30p.m. The public is invited.

FLY KiDS will be previewing the three costumed pieces that will be performed at the Marching Auxiliaries Regional Dance Competition at Chapel High School on February 26th.

The dancers are taught how to perform and their skills get better and better at each rehearsal and performance. FLY KiDS concerts are always family friendly. Come and see for yourself how much fun a FLY KiDS performance can be.
