Tyler ISD works to hire interim superintendent
News

TYLER, TX (KLTV)- After five years as Tyler Independent School District's superintendent, Dr. Randy Reid has announced his plan to transition into a new position as Keller ISD's superintendent.

"We're excited, you know, we have mixed emotions. Tyler has been a great place for my family and I, but we are excited about the opportunity that we have ahead," said Dr. Reid.
In a closed meeting that lasted about two hours, the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees discussed their plans to hire an interim superintendent.
"I'm committed to this board and to Tyler to stay with them and make sure that the transition is smooth as we move into the new year," Dr. Reid said.
School districts are required to wait 21 days before officially hiring a lone finalist.
Keller ISD is scheduled to vote on officially hiring Dr. Reid as the superintendent on July 23.
Tyler ISD's Board of Trustees tells us they hope to name an interim shortly after Dr. Reid's official departure.
Michelle Carr is the president of Tyler ISD's Board of Trustees. She said they will look within and outside the district to fill the position.
"Right now we don't have a name of anybody, but we have some people that we'll be probably contacting. Often they are retired superintendents that can easily transition into the role of interim superintendent and some of them have been interim superintendents a number of times," Carr said.
