'Julie' hit by car, now recovering in foster home, waiting for adoption | Families
Lifesaver's: Skylyr's Passion is a non-profit group committed to helping pets stay in their homes by assisting pet parents with adoption fees, vet bills, food, and other needs. LSP doesn't normally foster dogs or cats, but recently the group found it necessary in the case of one special dog whose name is Julie.
Angie Hollis, who founded the group, told us that Julie and one of her pups were surrendered to the Humane Society of NE Texas in Longview. About two weeks ago, a couple went to the humane society to adopt the pup, Scooter. However, since the two dogs had been together for the pup's entire life, the couple decided to adopt both of the dogs.
Neither of the dogs were leash-trained. The shelter worker suggested that the dogs be carried out to the car, Angie said, but the couple put a leash on Julie. Unfortunately, when the couple took the dogs outside, Julie slipped off her leash and ran away.
The shelter workers searched for Julie, but she wasn't found until the next day, when a local business owner spotted her behind their building near the shelter. Julie had been hit by a car.
The shelter manager went to pick up Julie, who survived, but needed some medical care.Angie took Julie home to foster her until a "furever family" can be found for her.
Julie is about two years of age, and is a lab mix. Angie said "she is more mix than lab," and is a very sweet girl.
Since almost all of the services the Lifesavers group provides involve incurring expense rather than generating income, the group depends entirely upon the donations of aniimal lovers to help them continue to do the good work they do.
Donations are greatly appreciated, Angie, said, and are tax-deductible. Contact Julie if you'd like to help for for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
