Thieves steal tack from local girl's trailer

A local woman took her 12-year-old daughter, Dannah, to participate in a pony show; it was meant to be an exciting day for this young lady.

You see, Dannah has been devoted to riding horses since she was 7 years old, and has a great talent for riding, jumping, and all that's involved in the sport. She's won many awards already in her short equestrian "career."

She worked hard, doing chores and odd jobs to save money to earn the things she needed for this sport,  including her saddle, leathers, peacock stirrups, leather girth, and extra thick white English pony pads.

As Dannah and her mom were passing through Fort Worth Sunday, pulling the horses and equipment in the trailer, severe weather caused them to seek shelter. They pulled into the Fort Worth Stockyards for safety, backing the trailer up against a pipe fence and locking it up for safety before going inside.

While they sought shelter indoors, someone outside broke the door's latch, opened it as far as they could, and stuck their arm inside to find something to steal.

Through the gap in the door, they were only able to reach one thing: Dannah's bag of equipment that she had worked so hard for. They managed to pull it through the gap in the door and take off with it.

Of course, Dannah is very upset at the loss of over $1,000 worth of gear. It will take a long time for her to be able to buy this all back again, so she and her mom hope that the stolen tack can be returned to her.

If you have any tips about this crime, please call Dannah's mom at (903)722-1601 or email her at csdwestbrook@yahoo.com.

Thank you, neighbors.
