Released by City of Tyler:

Bizarre tophats, teapots, cups and saucers and color will overtake Gallery Main Street on June 23 when a “Mad Hatter’s Tea Party” is held to raise funding for the gallery and the Main Street program.

Tickets will be $35 each, and all proceeds will benefit the gallery and downtown revitalization.  Please contact Gallery Main Street at (903)593-6905 to purchase tickets to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

“We invite everyone to don a favorite hat and come downtown midday on June 23 to have fun and support downtown arts at the same time,” said Main Street Department Leader Beverly Abell. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., those in attendance will enjoy lunch, silent and live auctions and a “sneak peek” tour of Liberty Hall, which is currently undergoing renovations to serve as a performing arts venue.

A special feature will be the sale and auction of hand-painted teapots and cup-and-saucer sets.

“These pieces are being beautifully designed by many of our Downtown Tyler Arts Coalition artists,” Abell said. “I have been able to see some of the designs already and they are just fabulous. I can’t wait for the public to see them!”

There will also be pieces decorated by local celebrities, including Mayor Barbara Bass. Other silent auction theme packages will be available for bid.

Diane Mezayek and Carrie Wright are serving as event co-chairs. Those who want more information should call Gallery Main Street at (903) 593-6905.
