COUNTRY MUSIC’S JEFF ALLEN PARTNERS WITH CITY OF CANTON, TX TO HOST THIRD ANNUAL HOMETOWN JAM ON OCTOBER 8, 2011

Funds raised by the Jeff Allen Foundation will Benefit the City of Canton for ADA improvements in the Downtown Canton area

Canton, TX / September 28, 2011 – Country music’s brightest up-and-comer, Jeff Allen will host his third annual Hometown Jam, benefiting the Jeff Allen Foundation.  This year’s event is merged with the City of Canton Main Street Program’s 11th Annual Autumn Stroll and scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2011. All proceeds will be donated back to the City of Canton for ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) improvements.

The highly anticipated event will consist of a State Championship Barbeque Cook-off, custom car shows, raffles, food and craft vendors, a catfish dinner with all the trimmings, and of course, live entertainment throughout the day. This year’s musical guests will feature Jeff Allen and Breaking Southwest.

“This cause is very close to my heart,” said Allen. “My mother, Jana, suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and I learned how little resources were actually available for mobility issues within Van Zandt County. The first event, in 2009, raised enough money for us to buy a handicap access van for my mom and I’ve since dedicated my time and resources to further mobility awareness and handicap improvements to the people of my hometown.”

At the 2010 Hometown Jam, Allen was able to present an electric wheelchair to a deserving recipient, as well as refurbish manual wheelchairs for two others.

With the success of the prior events, Canton Main Street approached Hometown Jam to be the evening entertainment for the Canton Autumn Stroll Festival. The Autumn Stroll has been the major fundraiser in Canton throughout the years, and the proceeds have gone to fund grants and renovations for downtown buildings. Funds have also assisted with new sidewalks, benches and trash receptacles, banners and seasonal lighting. Main Street has constructed a public parking lot complete with landscaping and irrigation as well. Proceeds also fund cooperative advertising for the Main Street District.

Lynn Kitchens, Main Street Program manager, says details of the event are coming together.  "The Canton Main Street Program is very excited to have Jeff Allen's Hometown Jam as our evening entertainment for the 11th Annual Autumn Stroll.  It will be a real treat to have a local celebrity in concert to complete what we anticipate will be a full day of family fun.  We invite everyone to come to Canton, Texas on Oct. 8, 2011 and join us in supporting a worthy cause while having a great time," said Kitchens.

The Hometown Jam evening concert takes place between 6:00pm-10:30pm.  The all-day 11th Annual Autumn Stroll Festival event starts at 9:00am and offers activities for all ages. There are sponsorship opportunities available including VIP Reserved Seating and Meet & Greet with Jeff Allen.  VIP Tickets & Donations are available/being accepted at www.jeffallenmusic.com.
