Released by the City of Tyler Communications Office:
Floral beauty will be on display in abundance as Gallery Main Street opens its “Perfect Bloom” exhibit Thursday with an opening reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the gallery, 110 W. Erwin.
Approximately 20 works of art, all interpretations of the theme, will be on display at the gallery through Oct. 18, said City of Tyler Main Street Department Leader Beverly Abell, whose department manages the gallery.
“There are many diverse interpretations of the theme,” Abell said. “There are super-close-up views of flowers, traditional compositions, abstract compositions, sculpture and diverse media.
“This exhibit was designed to complement the upcoming Rose Season and the Rose Festival itself,” Abell said, adding, “We thought ‘Perfect Bloom’ was the perfect exhibit topic for this special time of year in Tyler.”
The opening reception is free and open to the public, Abell said. “We invite everyone to come and see the exhibit,” she added, noting that most pieces in the show will be available for purchase.
Each purchase earns the gallery a 20 percent commission, which goes to help fund the gallery and other activities of the Main Street Department.
Information on how to enter exhibits can be found at www.downtowntylerarts.com. Each show at Gallery Main Street is a juried exhibit, which means all pieces show in exhibits go through a competitive selection process. Professional artists serve as members of the selection jury.
