Sheriff: Man charged in 2012 murder acted alone

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV)- Smith County authorities say they believe the man who was arrested this week for a 2012 murder, acted alone.

On Monday, 69-year-old Anthony Miller was charged in the murder of Adam Palacios. Miller is in the Smith County Jail on a $1 Million bond.

Last September, family members of 34-year-old Adam Palacios reported him missing. Authorities say, a few weeks later Miller called authorities and lead them to Palacios body.

Wednesday, Adam's wife told us he was a great father and that she's glad justice will be served.

According to an affidavit, one of the men Miller accused of committing the crime told authorities that "Miller killed Adam because Adam sold him dope that wasn't dope."

"Narcotics and major crimes go hand-in-hand. This was a drug related homicide," says Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith.
