Daisy was taken from my yard over the weekend. I-20 near exit 110, Mt Sylvan, Carrol, Hideaway, Lindale area.

Tyler PD first in nation to be recognized as Platinum Fit-Friendly Worksite

TYLER, TX - Today in the Tyler City
Council meeting, the Tyler Police Department was recognized as a Platinum Level
Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association's "My Heart. My Life."
initiative. 

This program is intended to
be a catalyst for positive change in the workplace across America and
recognizes worksites for making the health and wellness of their employees a
priority.

The Tyler Police Department
is the first police department in the United States to receive the Platinum
Award, the American Heart Association's pinnacle of corporate wellness," said
Brandi Banda, American Heart Association corporate market director.

The Police Department has
demonstrated that employees are offered physical activity support and that a
culture of wellness is promoted. The department has increased the number of
healthy eating options available at the worksite along with a state of the art
work out facility.

Since the 1890s, peanut butter has been a mainstay in the American home kitchen. George Washington Carver, the man who first created peanut butter, actually published the first known peanut butter cookie recipe, which used chunks of peanuts mixed into the cookie dough.

Some folks prefer a crispy cookie, while some prefer a chewy cookie. We thought we'd share one of each for you to enjoy to celebrate this delicious food holiday.

Road repairs may affect traffic in Tyler today

TYLER, TX (KLTV)- The Tyler Police Department has announced several road repairs that may affect traffic in the Tyler area on Wednesday.

- Donnybrook between Alpine and Ridgecrest is closed for Centerpoint until they are finished with repairs.

- The Tyler Water Department has the 400 block of Old Grande closed for repairs until 1 or 2 p.m.

- There is a gas line repair in the 2900 block of Donnybrook by Centerpoint. The road will not be closed, but there will be workers in the area to direct traffic.

Second annual “East Texas Comedy Festival” this weekend at Liberty Hall

Liberty Hall is proud to announce the second annual “East Texas Comedy Festival” June 14 and 15.  The festival will include a contest for “East Texas Funniest Comic “ which will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, two Comedy Workshops at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, and the final performance will be standup comedy by our headliner comedian, Daryl Felsberg.

This year’s contest features nine standup comics who were chosen by a panel of judges from more than 30 submissions.  Friday night each comic will have five minutes to win the crowd over.  The winner will be determined by an audience vote and our judges, and will be crowned the 2013 “East Texas Funniest Comic”.

“We have some amazing talent this year,” said Anne Payne, Liberty Hall Manager. “Their chemistry and fast paced brand of improv will make you laugh until you cry!”

Free nutritious meals for ETX kids

TYLER, TX (KLTV)- Hundreds of East Texas children will eat free nutritious meals this summer thanks to the East Texas Food Bank.

The East Texas Food Bank's Summer Food Program kicked off on Tuesday and will serve children at nearly 60 locations throughout the summer.

The free meals are available to children ages one to 18. To participate all you have to do is show up; no proof of insurance is required.
