John Tyler baseball snaps 128 game district losing streak

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Friday night, the John Tyler Lions baseball team did something that has not happened in more than 8 years.

They won a district baseball game.

Their 7-6 win over Marshall was JT's first district win since 2004, snapping a 128 game district losing streak.

"It was an amazing feeling," said senior Robert Garcia, "We had been close all season, but errors had cost us runs. But we put it together, worked hard and came out with the win."

Loss #129 seemed inevitable, the Lions were trailing 6-1 entering the final inning before rallying for 6 runs to win the game.

"To have made history it feels good that I was a part of this team," said senior Cesar Flores, "To change this baseball team, I really thought we were going to get it done this year. We were going to get a win."

National experts come to ETX to discuss economy

TYLER, TX (KLTV)- National experts joined hundreds of East Texans Monday, at the Second Annual Energy Summit, to talk about policy issues, like the Gulf Coast Pipeline Project.

"The idea is to replace dwindling supply from offshore sources, foreign sources of oil at the Gulf Coast refineries,as well as to relieve the glut of oil in Cushing, Oklahoma," said Jim Prescott with the Keystone Pipelines.

It's a project that Prescott says offers energy security and economic benefits.

"When you look at some of the alternatives of how to deliver oil from point A to point B, pipelines are by far the best and the most efficient and the safest way to do so," Prescott said.

Last week, President Obama ordered his administration to put the Oklahoma and Texas part of the Keystone Pipeline on the fast track.
